Director of Music

Tom Appleton

Our Director of Music is Tom Appleton.

Tom is a former St. Paul's Cathedral Chorister and member of the Monteverdi Choir, and has been a judge of the Abu Dhabi Young Musician of the Year Competition..

Tom sits on the Executive Board of the Norfolk and Suffolk Music Hub, is the founder of the Norfolk and Suffolk Freelance Musicians Network, is a Music for Youth Mentor, the Young Sounds UK Connector for Norfolk and Suffolk, and Musician in Residence at the Attleborough Music Project.

Tom's work in East Suffolk has seen him build strong relationships with many of our friends including Alde Valley Academy, Britten Pears Arts, First Light Festival, Jubilee Opera, and Aldeburgh's Jubilee Hall.

Tom lives in Suffolk and has previously been the Music Director of the King's Lynn Festival Chorus, the Ipswich Chamber Choir, Stowmarket Chorale, and others.

Highlights with AMC include the creation of our annual 'Carols on the Beach' each December, performances of Bach's B Minor Mass and Handel's Dixit Dominus at Snape Maltings, and Requiems by Brahms, Faure and Durufle at Orford Church. In September 2024, Tom began working on our behalf with Alde Valley Academy, our local Secondary School, to help spread the joys of singing to Children and Young People in our community.
